The EDITION Hotel Illuminates NYC

The New York EDITION Hotel, an iconic addition to the Manhattan skyline, blends historic architecture with a modern, minimalist aesthetic. Central to its transformation at night was LED Lighting Concepts, whose smart lighting solutions helped create a signature nighttime presence while maintaining the hotel’s refined design intent.

Smart Fixtures for Precision and Control LED Lighting Concepts supplied a range of Casambi-enabled smart lamps integrated with the hotel’s post tops and architectural elements. These fixtures allowed precise control over color temperature, beam spread, and intensity — ensuring that the lighting accentuated the building’s unique features without spilling into guest rooms. By using programmable, connected fixtures, the design team could fine-tune the illumination for the tower’s cornice, pyramidal roof, and cupola lantern, delivering a subtle yet distinctive glow visible across the city skyline.

Custom Fixtures for Architectural Integration Versatile posts and post tops — including traditional acorn-style luminaires — were carefully selected to house the smart lamps, giving the project flexibility to match the hotel’s minimalist design while supporting advanced lighting technology. The combination of smart lamps and adaptable fixtures enabled a seamless integration of light with the building’s structure, balancing aesthetics, functionality, and guest comfort.

Technical Innovation Meets Design Excellence The project’s challenge lay in creating a dramatic, yet restrained effect: emphasizing the hotel’s architectural elements without over-lighting or causing light trespass. LED Lighting Concepts’ solutions allowed the design team to illuminate the building’s façade and key features with precision, creating a calm, elegant nighttime experience. Low-level grazing, focused beam control, and fixture placement all contributed to a lighting scheme that feels both intentional and understated.
