The Henley Street Bridge retrofit began in September 2024, when the City of Knoxville used LLC-RGBW-BLE 60W Smart Lamps to replace a total of 192 integrated bollard LEDs, used in the previous DMX lighting system which was over 10 years old. City maintenance personnel cleaned, refurbished and replaced the LED component using custom mounting plates with quick-clip connects as time allowed.
In the fall of 2025, the City replaced the lighting under the bridge with 30 600W GC-RGBW Flood lights. Over 220 lights are operated on a single wi-fi gateway for this project with 6 extenders used, positioned on the pylons for signal viability. Each fixture on the upper and underside of the bridge is individually addressable and controlled through the Casambi app, allowing precise control of color, intensity, and programming across the entire installation.
The system meets safety and visibility requirements, while still delivering dynamic, full-color capability. This balance makes the solution well-suited for municipal, commercial, and private infrastructure projects where performance and aesthetics must coexist.
Built with long-term durability and cost-effective maintenance in mind, the Casambi node-based system enables remote management, easy troubleshooting, and simplified replacement—whether servicing a single fixture or scaling changes across the full bridge installation.
